We have performed Fe-57 and U-238 Mossbauer measurements of UFe2 in order t
o investigate its magnetic properties. From the results of Fe-57 Mossbauer
spectroscopy, the ferrromagnetic ordering at 167 K is caused by the iron 3d
-electrons, which hybridize strongly with the uranium 5f-conduction electro
ns. It is also clarified from the results of U-238 Mossbauer spectroscopy t
hat there are no magnetic moments on the uranium atoms.
