The present study of Np2Ir2In completes the Np-237 Mossbauer spectroscopy i
nvestigations of Np2T2X (T = Co, Rh, Ir, Ni, Pd, Pt; X = In, Sn) compounds.
Np2Ir2In is found to order at T-ord approximate to 30 K and the complex Mo
ssbauer spectra suggest the occurrence of a noncollinear modulated magnetic
structure with an average magnetic moment on the neptunium mu (Np) approxi
mate to 0.76 mu (B). The magnetic properties of Np2Ir2In are consistent wit
h the general trends observed in the An(2)T(2)X (An = U, Np) isostructural
family.
