Abstract
Theory and experiments are presented for the generation and detection of shear waves, Rayleigh waves and Lamb waves using air-coupled piezoc eramic ultrasonic transducers. An experimental air-coupled NDT system based on the Lamb wave technique has been constructed and using this i t has been possible to produce real-time images of defects in thin pla tes of various materials including carbon fibre and aluminium.
