M. Tanaka et S. Sato, Millimeter-wave deflection properties of liquid crystal prism cells with stack-layered structure, JPN J A P 2, 40(10B), 2001, pp. L1123-L1125
The liquid crystal (LC) prism with a stack-layered structure is prepared us
ing wedge-shaped metal substrates and nematic LC with a positive dielectric
anisotropy. The millimeter-wave deflection properties of the LC prism are
measured at 94 GHz and changes in the deflection angle of 3 degrees induced
by the external applied voltage can be obtained. The deflection effect is
also studied by the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method, and the ex
perimental results are consistent with those estimated by the FDTD method.
