Abstract
The liquid crystal (LC) prism with a stack-layered structure is prepared us ing wedge-shaped metal substrates and nematic LC with a positive dielectric anisotropy. The millimeter-wave deflection properties of the LC prism are measured at 94 GHz and changes in the deflection angle of 3 degrees induced by the external applied voltage can be obtained. The deflection effect is also studied by the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method, and the ex perimental results are consistent with those estimated by the FDTD method.
