C. Senecal et F. Guay, Procrastination in job-seeking: An analysis of motivational processes and feelings of hopelessness, J SOC BEHAV, 15(5), 2001, pp. 267-282
The purpose of this study was to propose and test a model of procrastinatio
n in job-seeking activities. This model posits that non self-determined job
-seeking motivation (i.e., performing job-seeking activities because of con
trols and pressure) is positively related to procrastination in job-seeking
activities. In addition. decisional procrastination is expected to be posi
tively related to procrastination in job-seeking activities. In turn, procr
astination in job-seeking is hypothesized to positively predict change in h
opelessness toward job-seeking. Participants were 345 university students w
ho were about to graduate. Results from regression analyses revealed that a
ll hypothesized links were supported. Discussion centers on the role of mot
ivation in procrastination toward job-seeking.
