Radiofrequency catheter ablation was first described in pediatric patients
in the early 1990s. Since then, advances in the technology have allowed thi
s technique to become one of the most powerful tools available to the pedia
tric cardiologist. In the majority of cases ablation therapy is now commonl
y implemented as an elective procedure to cure paroxysmal reentrant suprave
ntricular tachycardia. This review will focus on the indications for and on
the success rates and complications of radiofrequency ablation in the curr
ent era.
