Rates of solvolyses of N-benzoyl-arenesulfonimidoyl chlorides have been stu
died in different compositions of aqueous organic solvents and analysed in
terms of the mol fraction of organic solvent, the dielectric constant, the
Kirk-wood function, the polarisibility, Some E-T(N) values, a multiparamete
r equation and the Grunwald-Winstein equation. All these criteria were cons
istent with a concerted bimolecular S-N(2) mechanism of solvolysis.
