Abstract
I-V characteristics of single-wall carbon nanotubes are calculated and show n to be extremely sensitive to H adsorption. Furthermore, this sensitivity manifests oscillating characteristics in both metallic and semiconducting n anotubes and can be attributed mainly to the changes in the transmission fu nction induced by H adatoms and not to the charge transfer. The results are in good agreement with a recent experimental study of hydrogen storage in single-wall carbon nanotubes.
