We present a theory of combined nonmagnetic and magnetic momentum-dependent
impurity scattering in the d-wave superconductor. After deriving a formula
for the initial suppression of the critical temperature we discuss the exp
erimental data for Zn and Ni substitutions as well as electron irradiation
defects in cuprates. We suggest, that the unequal pair-breaking effect of Z
n and Ni may be related to a different structure of the magnetic moments in
duced by these impurities.
