Abstract
To analyze myocardial compliance in young patients with neurofibromatosis t ype I without cardiovascular malformations compared with normal subjects, w e used pulsed Doppler tissue imaging to study 42 patients at our pediatric department (mean age 10 years, range 4 to 19). Our study is the first to de monstrate the presence of a diastolic dysfuntion in patients with neurofibr omatosis type I and to suggest the presence of an underlying cardiovascular disease in these patients.
