The corrosion of a carbon steel in (0.5 - 9.0 M) HCl media using weight los
s, electrochemical polarization and polarization resistance measurements wa
s investigated. The corrosion data are discussed as function of the Strehlo
w acidity function R-o(H) which is the extension of pH in concentrated solu
tions. Weight loss, corrosion current densities and resistance polarization
values show a linear behaviour with the R-o(H) acidity function. The corro
sion potential-R-o(H) plot is also linear using the ferricinium (Fc(+)) / f
errocene (Fc) reference electrode in concentrated acid solutions.
