Abstract
In this work we present polarized Raman measurements of z-cut multimode H:L iNbO3 waveguides in the kappa (i)- and beta (i)-phase states. A spectrum wi th unexpected form and behaviour, originating from the layer at the very su rface, was observed in samples with various degrees of Li-H substitution. P ossible reasons for the presence of this strange spectrum are considered.
