Ae. Visser et al., Hydrophobic ionic liquids incorporating N-alkylisoquinolinium cations and their utilization in liquid-liquid separations, CHEM COMMUN, (23), 2001, pp. 2484-2485
The first examples of Room Temperature Ionic Liquids (RTIL) containing fuse
d polycyclic N-alkylisoquinolinium cations ([C(n)isoq](+)) in combination w
ith the bis(perfluoroethylsulfonyl) imide anion ([BETI](-)) have been synth
esized, characterized, and utilized in liquid-liquid partitioning from wate
r; these salts have unexpectedly low melting points and give high distribut
ion ratios for aromatic solutes, especially chlorobenzenes, between the RTI
L and water.
