A new volatile N,O-chelate complex of Cu(II) containing a methoxy grou
p was studied by X-ray diffractometry (KUMA automatic diffractometer,
MoKalpha radiation for single crystals and DRON-UM1, CuKalpha radiatio
n for polycrystals). The structure is molecular and consists of trans-
complexes of methyl-6-methoxy-5-iminoheptan-3-onato)copper(II). The st
ructure was refined in an anisotropic approximation using 2426 indepen
dent reflections to R = 0.048. Crystal data a = 13.426(2), b = 9.566(2
), c = 19.562(4) Angstrom, beta = 90.72 degrees, space group P2(1)/n,
V = 2512.2(8) Angstrom(3), Z = 4, d(calc) = 1.216 g/cm(3). The square-
planar environment of the copper atom with distances Cu-O = 1.938 and
Cu-N = 1.912 Angstrom is completed to pyramidal by interaction with th
e oxygen atom of one methoxy group of the neighboring molecule at a di
stance of Cu...O = 281 Angstrom.
