Abstract
A novel one-dimensional chain complex [Pr-2(bnbo)6(DMSO)(4)] (bnbo=3,5-bini tro benzoyloxy, DMSO= dimethyl sulfoxide) with bridging carboxyl groups was synthesized and its structure has been determined by single-crystal X-ray methods. In the complex, a pair of adjacent metal ions are alternately conn ected by four or two carboxylate groups to form an infinite chain of 8-coor dinated Pr3+ ions. The complex (Pr2C50H42N12O40S4) crystal system is tricli nic, with space group P(1) over bar, a = 14.2890(3), b = 14.3427(3), c = 20 .1601(2)Angstrom; alpha = 76.636(1), beta = 84.496(1),gamma = 60.316(1)degr ees, V = 3491.4(1)Angstrom (3), Z = 2, M-r =1861.02, D-c = 1.770 g/cm(3), m u = 1.608 mm(-1), F(000) = 1856, the final R = 0.0776 and wR = 0.1724 for 8 804 reflections with I>2 sigma (I).
