Jg. Blauel et al., EFFECT OF CLADDING ON THE INITIATION BEHAVIOR OF FINITE-LENGTH CRACKSIN AN RPV UNDER THERMAL-SHOCK, Nuclear Engineering and Design, 171(1-3), 1997, pp. 179-188
An analytical method has been developed and verified by three-dimensio
nal elastic-plastic finite element analyses to evaluate stress intensi
ty factors for finite length through clad and subclad cracks in reacto
r pressure vessels (RPV) under loss of coolant accident conditions. Th
e method is applied to thermohydraulic transients of the RPV of KKS. T
he results demonstrate the margin of safety for the RPV for end of lif
e material conditions. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S.A.
