Abstract
A deep-ridge vertical-groove distributed feedback (DFB) waveguide has been fabricated. Structural birefringence of the fabricated device was completel y eliminated by controlling waveguide width. Additionally, polarisation ind ependence of the grating coupling coefficient was accomplished by adjusting grating depth.
