The Jolly-Seber model provides estimates of abundance, survival, and captur
e rates from capture-recapture experiments. This article will describe rece
nt extensions to the following cases: (a) multiple-cohort studies where rec
ruitment rates are compared among cohorts, (b) age-specific breeding propor
tions, and (c) population growth rates. Finally, new areas of research need
ed for this model are proposed.
