Abstract
Dorfman and Brenner uncover an error in a calculation presented in a recent article [J. Appl. Phys. 89, 4667 (2001)]. Unfortunately, beyond revealing this error, they have introduced a number of errors of their own. Dorfman a nd Brenner introduce an advection-diffusion equation which is clearly inapp ropriate. In addition, their proposed criterion for application of Taylor-A ris dispersion theory is shown to be incorrect based on a simple numerical experiment. (C) 2001 American Institute of Physics.
