Abstract
Total synthesis of biologically active compounds related to plant disease a nd the physiological function has been accomplished. Coronatine, its relate d compounds, beta -resorcylic acid derivatives, decumbic acid, aliphatic de lta -lactones, cepaciamides, and piscidic acids, were selected as the synth etic targets. In these syntheses, the chiral pool method and catalytic asym metric synthesis were also applied to introduce the requisite stereogenic c enters. Combination of the two methods made it possible to synthesize a suf ficient amount of the required enantiomers and diastereomers for biological studies.
