Abstract
This study investigated the corrugated board specifications that are recomm ended in the Fibre Board Association Handbook as part of Item 222 of the Na tional Motor Freight Classification for shipping flowable items such as nut s and bolts using the single parcel shipping environment (UPS, FedEx, USPS) . The study found that the existing specifications are greatly insufficient to contain these types of products in this environment. The study recommen ds to double the requirements for bursting strength when such items need to be shipped in the single parcel environment and to limit the maximum packa ge weight to 40 lb.
