Neurobiochemical studies about suicidal behaviour focus on a serotonin
deficiency concept. Electrodermal studies using peripheral electroder
mal activity (EDA) marker could also show a relationship between nonre
sponse/hyperactivity in a habituation paradigma and so-called violent
suicidal behaviour. Results of a study with depressed inpatients recei
ving a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI; paroxetine) are r
eported with regard to the influence of SSRI on EDA-parameters.
