Iv. Madyanov et al., HYPERURICEMIA AS A FACTOR OF RISK OF SOME NONINFECTIOUS DISEASES IN CHUVASHIA POPULATION, Terapevticeskij arhiv, 69(6), 1997, pp. 49-51
The relation of hyperuricemia with obesity, arterial hypertension, hyp
erlipoproteinemia, high intensity of lipid peroxidation, hyperinsuline
mia, diabetoid carbohydrate disturbances (abnormal tolerance to carboh
ydrates and type II diabetes mellitus) has been investigated in an epi
demiological survey of a random population. The study covered 594 citi
zens of Chuvashia aged 16-65 years (mean age 39.4+/-0.5 years). Hyperu
ricemia is down to be related with hyperlipidemia, arterial hypertensi
on, obesity, high activity of lipid peroxidation and hyperinsulinemia.
It is evident that on the population level hyperuricemia may serve an
indicator of hormonal-metabolic athero-, diabetogenic shifts.
