Enuresis is one of the three common urinary problems that occur in childhoo
d. The relatively high frequency of the second problem, urinary tract infec
tion in children without urinary tract abnormalities, is well known and doc
umented. The common incidence of the third problem, elimination dysfunction
, is not as well documented or appreciated, but is also extremely common. T
hese three entities are presented in separate articles in this issue, but t
hey have significant etiologic, diagnostic, and therapeutic connections.
