Abstract
Hollow atoms are characterized by a large number of vacant inner shells and electrons occupying the outer shells. These "exotic" atomic species are fo rmed in collision processes between highly-charged ions and several types o f targets. The scope of the present contribution is to examine the decay pr operties of hollow atom states populated in collision with atoms, molecules , solid surfaces and clusters.
