Abstract
Adult vaccination saves lives and is cost-effective. During influenza epide mics, more than 20,000 estimated deaths occur in the United States. Despite the benefits of adult vaccination and the availability of usage guidelines , vaccination rates remain low. In 1999, only 67% and 55%. of elderly perso ns reported receiving influenza and pneumoccal vaccines. Vaccination indica tions are categorized as age, health, occupation, lifestyle, and environmen t.
