Abstract
The nature of acoustic waves at the interface between a solid substrate and a liquid is investigated and illustrated by experimental data obtained usi ng laser ultrasonics. A series of cases with different combinations of elas tic parameters of the liquid and the substrate are considered, and the feas ibility to elastically characterize the two adjacent media by interface wav e analysis is assessed.
