Abstract
The propagation of the laser-induced shock wave generated in air during las er ablation of metals is investigated by means of laser beam deflection tec hnique. The strong blast-wave model and intermediate strength blast-wave mo del are discussed. The conditions. which must be satisfied when these model s are used to describe the shock-wave propagation, are analyzed. The shock energy is estimated and the result for copper sample is given.
