A marine algae survey in Bajo Pepito, Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo, Mexico fr
om February 1997 to January 1998, produced six new algal records for the Me
xican Atlantic, 11 for the Yucatan Peninsula, 14 for Quintana Roo State and
32 for Isla Mujeres, The relativelly high number of new records may be cau
sed by methodology because nearly all the previous records were from intert
idal zones, whereas this study was carried out in a subtidal zone.
