Abstract
Distinct shifts of the cyclotron resonance position correlating with variou s fractional Landau-level fillings were observed for high-mobility electron space-charge layers in GaAs. In the magnetic quantum limit the shifts are reversed for incompressible liquids in the filling factor regimes v < 0.5 a nd 0.5 < v < 1. We propose an explanation based nn a many-body induced reno rmalization of the electron effective mass. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
