SURFACE COATINGS INTERNATIONAL PART B-COATINGS TRANSACTIONS
There are many examples in the literature reporting techniques for influenc
ing latex particle size. Unfortunately, the reported studies are generally
academic in nature and study dilute homopolymer latices which are not gener
ally applicable in the industrial sense. The preparation of concentrated co
polymer latices is much more industrially relevant. Techniques are describe
d for the routine preparation of copolymer and terpolymer latices, having b
etween 40-50% non volatile content, of predetermined particle size between
0.1-1.0 mum. The techniques are suitable for semi-batch processes.
