Abstract
The process of oxidation of sulfide zinc concentrate containing larger quan tities of iron (in the form of pyrite and marmatite is studied through ther mal treatment in a stationary layer and air atmosphere. The following metho ds of study are used: Mossbauer spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, D TA and TG, chemical analysis, etc. Mossbauer spectroscopy was used to keep track of the presence and changes i n the content of the following phases: FeS2, mZnS . nFeS, CuFeS2, FeSO4, Fe 2O3 and ZnFe2O4 in the initial concentrate and in the products of its oxida tion at different temperatures. Conclusions are made about the influence of roasting temperature on the con tent of the different iron-containing phases in the oxidation products. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
