Thermal properties of cross-linked and uncross-linked low-density polyethyl
ene (LDPE)/Fischer-Tropsch wax blends were investigated in this paper. For
cross-linked blends, the gel content was determined. It was observed that t
he gel content increases with an increase in DCP concentration. The degree
of crystallinity decreased with an increase in DCP concentration. The wax a
nd LDPE were not mutually miscible at higher wax concentrations in the crys
talline phase, as well as in the melt. The thermal stability of the blends
decreased with an increase in wax content, and no direct correlation betwee
n thermal stability and cross-link density was observed. (C) 2001 Elsevier
