Methods used in the analysis of an industrial crystallization process are p
resented in this article. They are implemented in the development of a popu
lation balance based model for the sodium perborate precipitation. The prec
ipitation kinetics such as nucleation, growth and agglomeration are estimat
ed using a novel estimation procedure, which enables the determination of c
rystallization kinetics from the experimental crystal size distributions. T
he values obtained for the crystal growth rate agree well with the values d
etermined by other authors.
