H. Ismail et al., EFFECTS OF VARIOUS BONDING SYSTEMS ON MECHANICAL-PROPERTIES OF OIL PALM FIBER-REINFORCED RUBBER COMPOSITES, European Polymer Journal, 33(8), 1997, pp. 1231-1238
The effects of various bonding systems on mechanical properties of oil
palm fibre reinforced rubber composites have been studied. The mechan
ical properties of oil palm fibre reinforced rubber composites filled
with various types of bonding system are higher compared to similar co
mposite but without bonding system (control compound). However, the te
nsile strength, tensile modulus, elongation at break, tear strength an
d hardness are dependent on the bonding systems used. SEM studies show
that the bonding between the fibre and rubber matrix is improved with
the addition of bonding agents in the rubber composites. (C) 1997 Els
