Abstract
Artificial transcription factors based on modified zinc-finger DNA-binding domains have been shown to activate or repress the transcription of endogen ous genes in multiple organisms. Advances in both the construction of novel zinc-finger proteins and our understanding of the characteristics of a pro ductive regulatory site have fueled these achievements.
