The appearance of a singularity in the velocity-field vorticity omega at an
isolated point irrespective of the symmetry of initial distribution is dem
onstrated numerically. The behavior of maximal vorticity \omega\ near the c
ollapse point is well approximated by the dependence (t(0) - t )(-1) , wher
e t(0) is the collapse time. This is consistent with the interpretation of
collapse as the breaking of vortex lines. (C) 2001 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodi
