Structural decreases in access to services and income make women incre
asingly vulnerable to poverty Guided by liberal feminist-structural th
eory, this article reviews three social constraints that uniquely cont
ribute to women's poverty: the confines on the family system, the cond
itions of women's work world, and the design of support systems. It th
en examines antipoverty programs in the United States and abroad and p
resents recommendations for social work practice.
