An experimental study of methane-air flame propagation in a duct is reporte
d. A flat duct was chosen to allow optical visualization and flame propagat
ion measurements. The duct was equipped with optical-quality windows to all
ow Schlieren visualization and particle image velocimetry (PIV) velocity me
asurements. The flame propagation velocity, flow structure, and velocity di
stribution in the flame for a different air excess factor are reported. (C)
