The paper reports the effect of dissolution of silver into the chalcogenide
As2S3. The conductivity of As2S3 decreases with doping at lower temperatur
es. The a.c. conductivity is proportional to omega (s) for undoped as well
as doped samples. The value of the frequency exponent "s" increases with do
ping. On the other hand, the dielectric constant of As2S3 also increases wi
th doping and the effect is quite prominent at higher temperatures. A new s
tructural model together with the correlated barrier hopping model has been
