A new fluoroaluminophosphate chain, denoted AlPO-CJ10,, has been synthesize
d in the system Al(PrOi)(3)-H3PO4-hexamethyleneimine-HF-TEG and its structu
re solved by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. It is characterized
by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), ion-selective electrodes (ISE), inducti
vely coupled plasma (ICP), thermogravimetric (TG), and elemental analyses.
The compound has an empirical formula of [AlP2O5(OH)(3)F]. [C6H12NH2] and c
rystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pnma (No. 62) with a = 25.547(1
0) Angstrom, b = 6.915(2) Angstrom, c = 7.179(2) Angstrom, Z = 4, R-1 = 0.0
550, and wR(2) = 0.1382. Its structure is built up by alternation of tetrah
edral PO3(OH) and PO2(OH)(2) units and octahedral AlO4F2 units to form one-
dimensional AlP2O8H3F- macroanionic chains containing an infinite -Al-F-Al-
linkage. The inorganic chains are held together by protonated hexamethylen
eimine through H bonds. (C) 2001 Academic Press.
