Intercalation of platinum complex was carried out in [ZnAl], [MgAl], and [C
uAl] LDH matrix by a new method including hydrothermal synthesis. Free carb
onate products were obtained. XRD and FTIR studies show the total exchange.
However, the geometry of the local environment of the platinum atom in the
complex appeared to be modified during intercalation. By thermal treatment
s and reduction in ethylene glycol, metallic particles dispersed on oxide p
owder were obtained. The resulting calcined products could have some intere
st in heterogeneous catalysis. (C) 2001 Academic Press.
