Abstract
Semihydrogenation of alpha,beta -unsaturated ynoates and -ynones bearing a gamma -alkoxy group can be performed using triphenylphosphine and water. al pha,beta -Unsaturated ynoates were reduced to a mixture of cis and trans al pha,beta -unsaturated enoates, whereas, ynones were reduced to trans alpha, beta -unsaturated enones as the only products.
