Abstract
In this case report, diagnosis and therapy of a congenital porto-systemic s hunt in a two year old domestic shorthair cat are described and compared wi th previous reports in the veterinary literature. Differences between dogs and cats concerning this disease are discussed. It can be confirmed that in cases of a single extrahepatic shunt surgical intervention is the treatmen t of choice and can be curative.
