A convenient solvothermal reduction pathway to Bi2Te3, Bi4Te3 and Bi2Se3 na
nocrystals has been developed by the reactions between bismuth nitrate and
tellurium in various solvents in the presence of hydrazine hydrate or white
phosphorus as reducing agent. The products were characterized by X-ray pow
der diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The influence of solv
ents and temperature on the reactions was investigated.
