Abstract
Several fimbriae have been implicated as potentially important in EPEC adhesion and pathogenesis. EPEC strain E2348/69 produced only bundle forming pill and type 1 fimbriae, and did not produce other accesory a dhesins identified in EPEC strain B171. Cloning and mutagenesis of the se EPEC firn genes indicated that type 1 pill had no affect on levels or patterns of adhesion to cultured human cells. (C) 1997 Academic Pre ss Limited.
