Abstract
Warming a solution of {(phen)Pd[eta (1):eta (2)- CH(CH2SiEt3)CH2C(CO2Me)(2) CH2CH=CH2]}(+)[BAr4](-) (4) at -41 degreesC led to first-order decay (k = ( 4.7 +/- 0.3) X 10(-4) M s(-1), DeltaG(double dagger) = 17.1 +/- 0.1 kcal mo l(-1)) with formation of the palladium cyclopentylmethyl complex {(phen)Pd- [CH2CHCH2C(CO2Me)(2)CH2CHCH2SiEt3](NCAr)}(+)- [BAr4](-) (5) in 96 +/- 10% y ield (H-1 NMR).
