Abstract
Hand-grip strength, which can be measured easily and objectively using a dy namometer, is predictive of multiple outcomes among a variety of subjects. Although the literature is not fully consistent, it tends to support grip s trength as a predictor of postoperative complications, mortality, and funct ional decline. Hand-grip dynamometry may merit broader application as a scr eening procedure.
