Vy. Petukhov et al., The influence of the polymer matrix structure on the ion beam synthesis ofmetal-polymer thin films, POLYM SCI A, 43(11), 2001, pp. 1154-1162
Metal-polymer thin films composed of an array of small metal particles embe
dded in a polymer matrix were obtained by ion beam synthesis in polymers. T
he structural features, phase composition, and magnetic properties of metal
-polymer films thus synthesized are determined by the type of starting poly
mer. the type of ions implanted, and ion implantation conditions. Mechanism
s for the generation and growth of thin metal films in polymers during ion
beam synthesis were proposed. In particular, the major role in the formatio
n of nanoparticles during the synthesis of ferromagnetic structures in poly
mers is played by magnetic dipole-dipole interaction between growing partic
les.
