Cw. Lejuez et al., Identifying, obtaining, and completing a predoctoral psychology internship: Research considerations, PROF PSYCH, 32(6), 2001, pp. 650-654
The quality of clinical training is a critical factor to consider when sele
cting a psychology predoctoral internship placement. Yet, research activiti
es are also an integral part of a scientist-practitioner training model. Pu
rsuit of ongoing research training during an internship can impact an indiv
idual's professional development and productivity, both during the internsh
ip year and beyond. Although many published resources have outlined the ste
ps to obtaining a predoctoral internship, few sources have offered adequate
consideration of research goals and training. To address this gap in the e
xisting literature, the present article offers a discussion of research iss
ues relevant to the process of identifying, securing, and completing a pred
octoral internship in applied psychology.
